MTB Emergency Prep Kit

Over the years, the sport of mountain biking has proven to be an extreme and dangerous activity that sometimes results in injuries. Although mountain biking can be a risky sport,  you can reduce the discomfort and further danger of a harmful situation with an emergency preparation kit.

If you get stuck miles away from your vehicle and have to spend the night in the woods, the proper materials and perpetration can greatly increase your chances at survival.

Here is a basic checklist of emergency supplies and equipment to include on your ride:

  • A warm sweater and toque

  • Waterproof jacket and pants
  • Water and a filter/pump
  • Bike repair kit
  • Extra food
  • Emergency kit
  • First aid kit
  • Flashlight/headlamp
  • Waterproof matches
  • Map and compass
  • Whistle

Although it may not be necessary to take everything on the list for a shorter ride, most of the listed items should be taken for a ride of a longer duration. It is always a good idea to be prepared as you never know what can happen while out on a ride. Always tell someone where you are going to ride and how long you will be.

Have a safe ride and see you on the trails!
